The Federación Mexicana de Radioexperimentadores ( German  about "Mexican Federation of Radio Amateurs " ), FMRE for short , is the national association of radio amateurs in Mexico .

history

It was founded in 1932 under the name Liga Mexicana de Radioexperimentadores and changed the first part of the name to Federación in 1988, when she joined the Mexican sports association Confederación Deportiva Mexicana .

It originated from thirty radio experimentadores who met in Colonia Roma (Calle de Sinaloa 33) , a district south of the Zona Rosa not far from the city center. The motto that they gave was: "Por la patria y la humanidad" ( German  "For the fatherland and humanity" ).

The FMRE is a non-profit organization that promotes its members and supports their activities. It consists of 32 sub-associations ( Spanish asociaciones ), one for each of the 31 member states of the country plus the one representing the UNAM and the IPN, i.e. the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( Spanish Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ) and the National Polytechnic University ( Spanish Instituto Politécnico Nacional ).

The association's traditional in-house magazine is entitled Ondacorta ( German  short wave ). It is dedicated to the various member activities such as contests , campaigns such as SOTA and "DXpeditions", as well as the typical topics of amateur radio , such as transmission and reception technology , antenna technology , test reports, building instructions and so on.

The FMRE is a member of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU Region 2), the international association of amateur radio associations, and represents the interests of Mexican radio amateurs there.
