The Liga de Amadores Brasileiros de Rádio Emissão ( LABRE for short ; German Brazilian Amateur Radio Association; literally "Association of Brazilian Amateurs of Radio Broadcasts " ) is the national association of radio amateurs in Brazil .  

history

LABRE was founded on February 2, 1934 and is a not-for-profit company . It is a member of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU Region 2), the international association of amateur radio associations, and represents the interests of Brazilian radio amateurs there.

The goals of LABRE include:

  • the development of amateur radio in all its forms;
  • scientific research and further training of its members in the field of radio technology;
  • philanthropic, social, cultural, educational, recreational and sporting activities aimed at developing intellect, harmony and social cohesion;
  • Cooperation with state telecommunications authorities in accordance with legal requirements and representation of radio amateurs;
  • scientific, social, cultural and technical exchange with other institutions;

The radio pioneer Father Roberto Landell de Moura (1861–1928) has long been considered the progenitor of Brazilian amateur radio . On September 25, 1981, he was officially elected patron by LABRE .
