location

Location in the Limassol district

Fini is located near the towns of Pano Platres and Kato Platres at an altitude of about 930  m , surrounded by pine forests. The area is very green due to the annual rainfall of around 830 millimeters, so there are various waterfalls such as the Hantara waterfall in the vicinity of the place . To the north is the Trooditissa Monastery , summer residence of the Bishop of Paphos . A few kilometers to the northeast is the highest mountain in Cyprus, the Olympos . To the east of the village, the B8 from Limassol runs through the mountains.

The place is about 57 km southwest of the Cypriot capital Nicosia , 71 km west of Larnaka , 29 km northwest of Limassol and 40 km northeast of Paphos .

Places in the area besides the nearby Pano and Kato Platres are Agios Dimitrios and Palaiomylos in the north, Troodos in the northeast and Mandria in the south.

Culture

Fini is a former pottery village. A museum shows how the so-called pitharia vessels are made for storing grain or oils. There is a wide range of handicraft products in the city. The place is also known for making loukoumi , a Turkish sweet similar to marshmallows .
