Anogyra ( Greek Ανώγυρα ) is a municipality in the district of Limassol in Cyprus . At the 2011 census it had 301 inhabitants.
Location and surroundings
Anogyra is located in the southwest of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of about 465 meters, about 74 km southwest of the capital Nicosia , 28 km west of Limassol and 28 km east of Paphos .
The place is about 10 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast in the hilly coastal hinterland. The neighboring district of Paphos begins to the west of the municipality , the Troodos Mountains are further in the interior of the island in the north and northeast. Anogyra was considered one of the most important carob producers, the place is also known for the production of pasteli from carob syrup, a traditional sweet especially in Greece , which is mostly made from honey.
Places in the vicinity are Dora in the north, Pachna in the northeast, Prastio in the east, Avdimou in the southeast, Agios Thomas and Platanistia in the south and in the district of Paphos Archimandrita and Mousere in the west.
