Agios Thomas ( Greek Άγιος Θωμάς , Turkish Mersinli ) is a municipality in the Limassol district in Cyprus . At the 2011 census it had 50 inhabitants.
Location and surroundings
Agios Thomas is located in the southern center of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of 322 meters, about 74 km southwest of the capital Nicosia , 26 km west of Limassol and 26 km east of Paphos .
The place is about 7 km from the Mediterranean Sea in the coastal hinterland. The area of the British military base Akrotiri begins a little to the south-east and to the south runs the motorway 6 from Limassol to Paphos and parallel to it the main road B6 .
Places in the vicinity are Anogyra in the north, Prastio in the east, Avdimou in the southeast, Pissouri in the south and Platanistia in the west.
Population development
The village was mainly inhabited by Cypriot Turks until the northern part was occupied by Turkish troops in the course of the Cyprus conflict . They initially fled to the British area of Akrotiri and from January 1975 settled in Kontea in Northern Cyprus .
