Fley is a district of the independent city Hagen in the eastern Ruhr area . The Westphalian word Fley means hall .

history

The Fleyer war memorial is completely hidden at the edge of the Fleyer forest.

Fley was first mentioned in 1229 as Vlie in the property and income register of the women's convent and later noble women's monastery Herdecke . In 1369 Dietrich von Volmarstein sold allod property in Fley ( Herdecke parish ) to Herman von Siborgh a cottage, a fishery, a weir and half a farm.

The farmers Fley belonged to the county of Mark in the parish and court of Hagen . In the treasury of the county of Mark of 1486, 8 taxable farm owners are named in the Fleyer Burschop with a tax between 2 and 6 gold guilders .

From 1705 it belonged to the Hagen court, Wetter office . In 1734 there was a fire engine in Fley. From 1753 the place belonged to the district Wetter, 1809 it came to the municipality Boele (canton and arrondissement Hagen ). From 1817 Fley belonged to the Boele office in the Hagen district.

The Fley Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1923 and its Feldmarkweg fire station was inaugurated on September 21, 1924. On August 1, 1929 the independence of the rural community ended, which has now been incorporated into the city of Hagen together with other communities.

Theis company started operating the Fley stainless steel plant in 1976. In 2004 the new development area Fley-Erlhagen was developed with 130 residential units.
