Flight of the Conchords is an American comedy - TV series of the cable network HBO . The plot describes the fictional life of the real New Zealand folk duo Flight of the Conchords in New York . The two singers Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie play themselves.

On HBO , the series took the slot for The Sopranos and reached 1.25 million viewers when it was first broadcast. The series was nominated for the 60th Emmy Awards in the categories of Screenplay for a Comedy Series and Direction for a Comedy Series. In 2018, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement definitely ruled out a third season.

The series revolves around the everyday lives and loves of the two musicians Jemaine and Bret. The two moved to New York from their native New Zealand to pursue a career there. The band's manager is the incompetent New Zealand embassy clerk Murray ( Rhys Darby ). Jemaine and Bret have to fend off constant advances from their only fan Mel ( Kristen Schaal ). Dave ( Arj Barker ), a pawn shop clerk, gives the two New Yorkers tips on dealing with American women and American culture. Other characters in the series include Bret's girlfriend Coco ( Sutton Foster ) and Jemaines and Bret's ex-girlfriend Sally ( Rachel Blanchard ).

In each episode of the series, the two band members sing their own songs that are more or less appropriate to the current situation.

Flight of the Conchords was produced for the US broadcaster HBO. There the premiere of the twelve-part first season ran between June 17 and September 2, 2007. The ten-part second season was broadcast between January 18 and March 22, 2009.

Germany

In Germany, the first season will be broadcast from June 26th to September 11th 2013 on the pay-TV channel Sky Atlantic HD . From September 18 to October 16, 2013, the second season was broadcast in a block of two episodes at a time.

He responds by forming his own competing band. Eventually, the two new members ( Demetri Martin ) of their bands decide to form their own duo with Murray agreeing to manage them.
