The Circuito callejero de Punta del Este is a temporary street circuit in Punta del Este ( Uruguay ). Car races have been held on the site on different track configurations since 1980. On December 13, 2014, a Formula E race took place on this track for the first time as part of the FIA Formula E Championship 2014/15 .
The route configuration introduced in 2014 contains 20 curves, runs clockwise over public roads on the Atlantic coast (Playa Brava) and is therefore incorrectly referred to as a port course, as the port is located on the coast of the Río de la Plata . Parts of the course are identical to the track configuration on which touring car and formula races as part of the Gran Premio de Punta del Este have taken place in different variants since the early 1980s .
The route was slightly revised for the second Punta del Este ePrix . The first chicane, which was a right-left combination last year, has been converted into a left-right combination so that the pit exit is no longer on the ideal line. In addition, two more chicanes were built closer to reduce the speed. As a result of the modifications, the route was shortened by 23 meters.
