François Paul Marie Maupu (born August 30, 1939 in Neuville-aux-Bois , Loiret department , France ) is Bishop Emeritus of Verdun .

Life

François Maupu was ordained a priest on December 20, 1964 and was incardinated in the diocese of Orléans . After further studies in Orléans and at the Sorbonne , he taught as a professor at the seminary in Orléans. From 1989 to 1997 he was Vicar General in Orléans.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Verdun on March 9, 2000. The bishop of Soissons , Marcel Herriot , ordained him episcopal on April 30th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Yves Patenôtre , Bishop of Saint-Claude , and Gérard Daucourt , Bishop of Orléans . His motto is Vivus est enim Dei sermo .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on July 3, 2014.
