Frankershausen is a district of the Berkatal community in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse . The Berkatal municipal administration is located in the village.
geography
Frankershausen lies in the north-eastern foreland of the Hohe Meißner and is traversed by the Berka . The state roads 3242 and 3422 as well as a district road meet in town.
history
Frankershausen is first mentioned in a document in 876. From the 17th century until around 1938 there was a Jewish community in the village, which had a synagogue .
The communities Frankenhain, Frankershausen and Hitzerode were merged in the course of the regional reform in Hesse on December 31, 1971 to form the new community Berkatal.
In the district of Frankershausen are the desert areas Borne and Oberndorf , both near the karst springs Breitenborn and Kressenborn, and the desert area Welferode , about 1.5 km downstream in the Berka valley at the site of today's Schafhof.

- Evangelical village church with its fresco paintings
- About 1.5 km north of the town center are the two karst springs, Breitenborn and Kressenborn , which are designated as natural monuments
- Not far east of the two springs is the “Kripplöcher” part of the “ Kripp- und Hielöcher ” nature reserve, and the “ Hielöcher ” part to the southwest of the two sources and almost immediately northwest of the village.
- Frau-Holle-Teich , a natural pond about 5 km southwest of the village on the Hohe Meißner
Economy and Infrastructure
- There is a barbecue hut , a kindergarten , a local museum and a playground in the village . An organic bakery is located in Frankershausen . This bakery has existed since 1911.
