The French women's national basketball team represents France in international basketball competitions. Her greatest successes include the European championship titles in 2001 and 2009 as well as second place at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London .

history

The French women’s national team has been participating in international tournaments since the European Championship in 1938. After a third place in the 1953 World Cup , the successes initially failed to materialize. The French women were only able to qualify for the Olympic Games twice in the following decades. At the European Championships they achieved two second places at the European Championships in 1970 and 1993 during this time. Since the beginning of the 90s, the French national team has been among the best in Europe, which was confirmed by two titles in 2001 and 2009 , a second place in 1999 and a third place in 2011 at the European Championships. These good performances culminated with second place at the 2012 Olympic Games.
