Franz Fassbinder

Franz Faßbinder (also Franz Jakob Faßbinder , pseudonym Franz J. Falckenberg ; born June 10, 1886 in Trier , † May 29, 1960 in Bonn ) was a German literary scholar , educator and writer .

Life

Franz Faßbinder was the son of a senior teacher at a teachers' college ; his siblings included the peace activist Klara Marie Faßbinder and the writer Heinrich Faßbinder . His grandson is the filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder . Franz Faßbinder attended a grammar school in Brühl , where he passed the school leaving examination in 1906 . Then studied it German and Romance studies at the universities in Freiburg , Clermont-Ferrand and Bonn . Since 1906 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Arminia Freiburg im Breisgau . After he had passed his state examination in 1911 , he completed his legal clerkship at the Royal Prussian grammar school in Bonn and his probationary period at grammar schools in Rheydt and Remscheid . From 1917 he taught as a high school teacher at a lyceum in Essen . In the same year his doctorate he attended the University of Bonn with a work about the medieval French encyclopedists Pierre Bersuire for Doctor of Philosophy . From 1925 Faßbinder was senior director of studies in Castrop-Rauxel (today's Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium ). After the National Socialist seizure of power , he was forced to retire in 1933 . Faßbinder was only able to resume his career after 1945: in 1945 he qualified as a professor at Heidelberg University , and from 1946 he held a professorship for German studies at Mainz University .

Franz Faßbinder published a number of school reading books as part of his work as a high school teacher . He also wrote narrative works , essays and poems and translated from French .
