Hans Christian Friedrich Marschall von Bieberstein (born May 26, 1763 in Kemberg , † November 17, 1842 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the cadet house in Berlin.

Life

He was the son of Christian Gottlieb Marschall von Bieberstein (born July 31, 1711) and his wife Henriette Katharina Friederike, born von Witzleben (born April 26, 1738). His father was a deputy of the knighthood of the district as well as court lord on Bleddin .

Military career

Bieberstein came to Potsdam as a court page in 1776 and was employed as an ensign in the "Alt-Woldeck" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army on September 5, 1780 . There he rose to prime lieutenant by mid-May 1792 and was transferred to the cadet house in Berlin on February 20, 1793 when he was promoted to staff captain . On March 7, 1798, Bieberstein was promoted to captain and company commander and on November 18, 1800 to major . When the French approached Berlin during the Fourth Coalition War , 250 cadets led by von Bieberstein were brought to safety in Königsberg on the orders of his superior von Lingelsheim . Once there, all the cadets joined the army and three accompanying governors became battalion quartermasters. Bieberstein was appointed brigadier in the new reserve battalion, but fell seriously ill.

After the Peace of Tilsit , Bieberstein received a four-week vacation to restore his health in Pillau . After it was ready for use again, it became a member of the military examination commission under General von Lützow in Berlin on May 8, 1809 . On 31 January 1810 was followed by his transfer as director of cadets house by Stolp and in this capacity he was the on February 12th 1810 character as Lt. Col. granted. At the instigation of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. the cadet house in Stolp was closed and merged with that in Potsdam. Bieberstein was appointed director of the Potsdamer Anstalt on March 4, 1811 and moved to Berlin on March 5, 1812 in the same position. He was promoted to colonel on July 19, 1813 and at the end of November 1814 received a salary bonus of 200 thalers.

After the war, he retired from active service on September 12, 1817, retaining his previous salary of 1,500 thalers. At the end of March 1820, his earnings were reduced to a disability salary of 1200 thalers. With his previous disability salary, Bieberstein was granted the farewell on May 14, 1833 with the character of major general. In January 1834 he received a present of 500 thalers from the king. He died in Berlin on November 17, 1842 and was buried in the garrison cemetery on November 21, 1842 .

Bieberstein married Anna Auguste Henriette von Pieper (1765–1819) in 1787, who was buried in the garrison cemetery after her death on July 8, 1819. The following children were born from the marriage:
