Friedrich Wilhelm Bernhard (* 1804 ; † 1861 ) was a German organ builder who worked in Upper Hesse in the 19th century .

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Bernhard was the son of the organ builder Johann Hartmann Bernhard and the older brother of Adam Karl Bernhard . Together with his brother, Friedrich Wilhelm initially worked in his father's company in Romrod and finally took over his father's company after his father's death, while Adam Karl went into business for himself in Gambach. Bernhard's greatest competitor was Johann Georg Förster . Both liked to build couplings that let the manual register in the pedal sound through a transmission .
