Friedrich Wilhelm Hurrelbrinck (born February 2, 1806 in Herford , † May 22, 1877 in Stettin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Friedrich was a son of the businessman Heinrich Friedrich Hurrelbrinck and his wife Marie Dorothea, née Schröder.

Military career

In 1824 Hurrelbrinck joined the 4th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner and graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1827/29 . In the meantime he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich and to the 7th Artillery Brigade . After his successful graduation, Hurrelbrinck advanced to the position of redundant second lieutenant and was assigned on December 20, 1830. He rose to prime lieutenant in mid-March 1842 and was promoted to captain on February 13, 1847 as a company commander in the 1st Artillery Regiment . From there he came on January 14, 1851 as an artillery officer from the square to the fortress Glatz . This was followed from July 22, 1852 to June 26, 1854 as a battery chief in the 6th Artillery Regiment . Then Hurrelbrinck was promoted to major as a department commander in the 1st Artillery Regiment. In this capacity he rose on May 31, 1859 to lieutenant colonel . On November 5, 1859, Hurrelbrinck was entrusted with the management of the business as Chief of the General Staff of the General Inspection of Artillery and on June 1, 1860 he was appointed Chief of Staff. In addition, since November 5, 1859, he was also a member of the examination committee for prime lieutenants of the artillery. On December 14, 1860, he received the command of the order of Philip the Magnanimous .

On the occasion of the coronation celebrations of King Wilhelm I , Hurrelbrinck was promoted to colonel on October 18, 1861 and transferred to the War Ministry as head of the artillery department on October 23, 1863 , and relieved of his duties on the examination committee on February 2, 1864. On June 11, 1864, he was awarded the Order of St. Anne II Class. Left in his position in the War Ministry and under position à la suite of the 1st Pomeranian Field Artillery Regiment No. 2 , Hurrelbrinck was appointed commander of the 2nd Artillery Brigade in Stettin on June 25, 1865 . After he was released from his relationship with the War Ministry on April 18, 1865, he was promoted to major general on June 18, 1865 and took part in the battles at Gitschin and Königgrätz in 1866 as commander of the artillery of the II Army Corps during the German War . For his work he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class, with oak leaves and swords on the ring. On March 22, 1868 he was given the character of Lieutenant General and on May 23, 1868 he was put up for disposal with a pension . He received his retirement on March 7, 1873 and died on May 22, 1877 in Stettin.

Hurrelbrinck married Julie von Stappers (1814–1862), a daughter of the Dutch chief forest officer Alexander von Stappers, on February 11, 1839 in Luxembourg.
