Friedrich Wilhelm Karl von Bock and Polach (born May 18, 1849 in Haus Sandfort , † October 13, 1934 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

origin

He came from the Meißnischen noble family Bock and Polach and was a son of the Prussian captain Ernst von Bock and Polach (1799-1849) and Luise Freiin von Nordeck (1815-1892). Older brothers were among others the General Field Marshal Max von Bock and Polach (1842–1915) or the later Lord Mayor of Mülheim an der Ruhr , Carl von Bock and Polach (1840–1902).

Military career

Like his second oldest brother Max, Friedrich embarked on a career in the Prussian Army and was transferred from the Cadet Corps as an ensign to the 6th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 55 in Minden . With this he was able to distinguish himself during the German war in the battle of Kissingen and received the military honor mark 1st class for it.

His first transfer to the IX. Army Corps took place in 1896 when he was appointed commander of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Grenadier Regiment No. 89 in Schwerin . In May of the following year he was first appointed to represent the leadership of the 36th Infantry Brigade in Rendsburg and, in the following month, à la suite of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Grenadier Regiment 89 to lead them. Promoted to major general, he was appointed commander of the 86th Infantry Brigade at Saarlouis a month later . In 1901 he was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed commander of the 37th division in Allenstein . From there he was transferred to the 1st Division in Königsberg in 1902 . For the General of the Cavalry Robert von Massow , who was appointed President of the Reich Military Court , he was appointed in October 1903 with the leadership of the IX. Army Corps commissioned and appointed Commanding General in 1904. By AKO on December 24, 1905, he was promoted to General of the Infantry. In 1907 he was put into disposition and in recognition of his many years of service he received the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order with Oak Leaves on June 6, 1907 .

Since the military honorary badge was not awarded in the war of 1870/71 and he was the only living holder of this military award at the time, this fact was worth mentioning in the press.

family

His granddaughter Christa married the later Reichsfilmdramaturge Carl-Dieter von Reichmeister in 1937 .
