Friedrich Ludwig Christian August von Borcke (born June 15, 1791 in Altwigshagen , † July 29, 1862 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commandant of Berlin .

Life

origin

His parents were Otto Ludwig Friedrich von Borcke (* June 18, 1758 - January 15, 1834) and his second wife, Sophie Hedwig Tugendreich, born von Arnim (* July 24, 1767 - February 17, 1805).

Military career

Borcke came on March 1, 1804 as a standard squire in the cuirassier regiment "von Bailliodz" of the Prussian army . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and became a cornet on February 7, 1807 after the war . On December 11, 1807, Borcke joined the Brandenburg Dragoon Regiment No. 1 as a second lieutenant . During the Russian campaign in 1812 he fought in the battles near Eckau and Karlshof.

During the Wars of Liberation in 1812/15 Borcke took part in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Großbeeren , Dennewitz , Leipzig , Ligny , Wavre as well as the battles of Danigkow, Borna, Haynau , Jühndorf, Herzdorf, Namur and the storming of Arnhem. For Dennewitz he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the war, Borcke was aggregated on May 14, 1815 to serve as an adjutant to the regiment. On August 20, 1815, he was transferred to the adjutant and assigned to the 2nd Cavalry Brigade as an adjutant . He was also promoted to Prime Lieutenant on September 2, 1815 . On March 30, 1818 he was promoted to Rittmeister and on March 30, 1821 he became adjutant of the Guards Cavalry Inspection. On March 30, 1830 he was appointed adjutant of the 16th Division and promoted in this capacity on March 30, 1831 to major . This was followed from May 14, 1832 as an adjutant at the General Command of the VII Army Corps . On August 18, 1837 Borcke was appointed regular staff officer in the 12th Hussar Regiment and on March 30, 1839 with the management of the association . For regimental commander Borcke was appointed on 28 January 1841 and in this position on September 23, 1841 Lieutenant Colonel and on March 30, 1844 to Colonel promoted. On March 27, 1847 he was transferred to the 1st Cavalry Brigade as commander and on March 30, 1847 he was aggregated to the 12th Hussar Regiment. From May 13, 1848 to November 12, 1851, Borcke was in command of the 10th Cavalry Brigade and in the meantime advanced to major general on April 4, 1850 . On November 13, 1851, he was transferred to Berlin as commandant . On December 21, 1852, he received the Order of the Iron Crown, 1st class, from Austria . On September 21, 1853, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV awarded him the star of the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Borcke received his on April 27, 1854 farewell with board .

He died unmarried on July 29, 1862 in Berlin and was buried on July 31, 1862 in the Invalidenfriedhof .
