Fortunately, group 3 did not have as few goals as in group 2. Although the favorites Brazil and England prevailed here, too, the two teams had to score significantly more goals. While Pelé & Co. clearly defeated the Czechoslovakia (4: 1), England (1: 0) and Romania (3: 2), things were pretty tight for the 1966 world champions. Romania and the winless CSSR could each be defeated 1-0 - that was enough for second place.
