Gönen is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Isparta . Gönen is located 20 kilometers north of the provincial capital and was elevated to Belediye ( municipality ) in 1948 .
The district is bordered by Uluborlu District in the north, Atabey District in the east, the Central District ( Merkez ) in the south and Keçiborlu District in the west. In the southwest it has a border with the province of Burdur for about one kilometer .
The district of Gönen was formed in 1990 when it was formed from some communities in the Bucak Merkez of the central district. At the end of 2018 it consisted of the district town and the Belediye Güneykent (2,121 inh .). There are also five villages ( Köy ) with an average of 389 residents. Gölbaşı is the largest village with 648 inhabitants.
