Günther Grewe
Günther Grewe (born on August 7, 1924 in Essen-Borbeck ) is a German former politician ( CDU ) of the GDR . From 1963 to 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber .
Life
Günther Grewe was born as the son of a mine worker in Essen. After attending elementary and middle school he studied from 1939 to 1941 the profession of electrician . During the Second World War he did military service in the Wehrmacht from 1942 to 1945 , most recently as a corporal .
From 1945 to 1949 he worked in his profession. After 1949 he was the managing director and authorized signatory of various companies. In 1945 he joined the Free German Trade Union Federation and in 1946 the CDU. In 1948 he was one of the founders of the People's Congress movement in Thuringia and in 1949 became a member of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship . For a while he worked in the district administration in Altenburg , 1950–1952 as deputy district administrator . From 1950 Grewe was a secret informant (GI) of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) under the code name "Graf" . In 1952 he became deputy chairman of the Gera district association of the CDU. From 1953 to 1954 he was Deputy Mayor of Gera. From 1954 to 1960 he was first chairman of the CDU district association in Gera and a member of the district assembly . In 1960 he became the full-time head of the politics department in the party leadership of the CDU. Also from 1960 to 1990 he was a member of the Presidium and Secretariat of the National Council of the National Front . From 1963 he was a member of the district board of Urania Berlin Mitte . From October 1963 to March 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber for the CDU. There he was a member of the Citizens' Submissions Committee. From 1968 to 1972 he was a member of the presidium of the League for Friendship of Nations of the GDR. From 1969 to 1971 he was a member and deputy chairman of the committee for foreign affairs in the Volkskammer and from 1971 deputy chairman of the committee for trade and supply as well as chairman of the working group for church questions at the main board of the CDU. From 1982 to 1989 he was chairman of the friendship society between the GDR and Norway. Grewe worked as an unofficial employee for the MfS until the turning point and peaceful revolution in the GDR brought it to an end.
