history

In 1347 the castellan Fritz de Omtitz was mentioned in Schiedlo . The oldest mention of the place is from 1357. In 1616, Georg von Schoenaich bought the Amtitz manor and the associated villages, thereby establishing the ownership of the von Schönaich-Carolath family in the village. Since 1646 Amtitz was represented in the Lord of the Curia niederlausitzischen State Parliament and has held the status of a rule (since the 19th century caste domination ).

In 1846 Amtitz got a train station on the line from Berlin to Breslau. In September 1939, a transit camp ( Dulag B ) for Czech and then also for Polish prisoners of war was set up nearby , including Father Maximilian Kolbe. In December the prisoners were transferred to the Fürstenberg camp on the Oder . In 1940 the director Veit Harlan lived in Amtitz and shot parts of the film Jud Suess here .

In 1945 Amtitz came to Poland. The castle fell into disrepair and was demolished in the 1960s. In 1984 rail traffic was discontinued. In 2016/17 the church was secured and given a roof.
