The municipality of Wallwitz, with around 500 inhabitants, was incorporated with Heidekrug in the district of Germersdorf (Jaromirowice), in whose area the municipalities of Buderose (Budoradz), Germersdorf, Klein Drenzig (Drzeńsk Mały) and Mückenberg (Komorów) were located. The competent district court was that in Guben (Gubin).

Before 1945, the section between Guben and Rusdorf (now in Polish: Połupin), on which Heidekrug was located, was part of the German Reichsstraße 97 , which ran from Dresden via Cottbus to Crossen / Oder (Krosno Odrzańskie) and Tirschtiegel (Trzciel) on the then Border to the Polish Corridor .

Before 1945, the majority of the population of Heidekrug was of Protestant denomination.
