Galina Pavlovna Matvyevskaya

Galina Pawlowna Matwijewskaja ( Russian Галина Павловна Матвиевская ; born July 13, 1930 in Dnepropetrovsk ) is a Soviet - Russian mathematician , orientalist and university teacher .

Life

Matwijewskaja attended school in Charkow and after the beginning of the German-Soviet war in Chkalow . After graduating with a gold medal in 1948, she studied at the Leningrad University in the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics , graduating in 1954. She then became an aspirant in the Leningrad Department of the Moscow Institute for the History of Science and Technology (named after Sergei Ivanovich Vavilov in 1991 ) Academy of Sciences of the USSR . She studied Leonhard Euler's unpublished manuscripts on number theory . In 1959 she successfully defended her dissertation for a doctorate as a candidate in physical- mathematical sciences.

1959 Matwijewski became a research assistant at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (AN-UsSSR) in Tashkent . She became an orientalist and researched the history of mathematics in the Near and Middle East using medieval Arabic manuscripts. In 1968 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis for her doctorate in 1969 as a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences. In 1984 she was elected a corresponding member of the AN-UsSSR. In 1987 her work on the scholar Albrecht Dürer was published . She cooperated with Boris Abramowitsch Rosenfeld .

In 1994 Matvijeskaja became a professor at the Orenburg State Pedagogical University. In 1995 she became a member of the Académie internationale d'histoire des sciences . Her research focus now became science and education in the Orenburg region in the 18th – 19th centuries. Century. She has published works on Pyotr Ivanovich Rytschkow , Vasili Alexejewitsch Perowski , Vladimir Ivanovich Dal , Jakow Vladimirovich Chanykow and others. She has been a member of the Union of Writers of Russia since 2000 .
