Galician Carl Ludwig Railway
The kk priv. Galizische Carl Ludwig-Bahn ( CLB ) was a railway company in Austria , whose routes were in Galicia . Today the former railway area is partly in the states of Poland and Ukraine . The company was named after Karl Ludwig of Austria , the brother of Emperor Franz Joseph I.
history
The CLB had its origins in the Eastern State Railway , from which it took over its operating network east of Krakow and its locomotive fleet on April 7, 1858 . The Dembica - Rzeszów line , the construction of which the Eastern State Railway had begun, was completed by the CLB and opened in 1858. The routes to the east were expanded rapidly, and parts of the Ukraine were also opened up.
The CLB was nationalized on January 1st, 1892, with which its routes and vehicles came to the kkStB .
