The Gambell Airport ( ICAO code pagm , IATA code GAM ) is a public airport south of the village of Gambell on the extreme northwest tip of St. Lawrence Island in the US state of Alaska . From there the airlines Bering Air and Era Alaska fly to Savoonga .
Incidents
On August 30, 1975, a Fairchild F-27B of Wien Air Alaska ( aircraft registration number N4904 ) collided with Sevuokuk Mountain ( ⊙ ) while approaching runway 16 after several unsuccessful landing attempts in fog . 10 of the 32 inmates were killed in the impact and subsequent fire.
