The Gandower Schweinweide nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the municipality of Lanz (Prignitz) and the city of Lenzen (Elbe) in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

The area with the identification number 1426 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of December 20, 2002 . The 79.4 hectare nature reserve extends south of Gandow , an inhabited part of the municipality of Lenzen, and west of Wustrow , an inhabited part of the municipality of Lanz, along the Löcknitz , a right tributary of the Elbe . The district road K 7035 runs along the western and southern edge of the area, the Elbe flows to the west and south and runs along the state border with Lower Saxony . The approximately 999 hectare nature reserve Lenzen-Wustrower Elbe lowlands extends southeast .

The nature reserve includes "the characteristically developed, old cultural landscape of the Elbe valley edge with diverse site conditions and the typical landscape mosaic of small, structurally rich and varied areas of the Elbe with the Löcknitz and the adjacent dunes ."
