The Werder Besanders nature reserve is located in the municipality of Lenzerwische in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

The area with the identification number 1425 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of May 16, 1990 . The approximately 113 hectare nature reserve stretches to the northwest, west and south of Besendet , an inhabited part of the municipality of Lenzerwische. The area is located directly on the west-flowing Elbe . The state border with Lower Saxony runs along the middle of the Elbe and the state border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania runs along the northern edge of the area . The B 195 runs east, northeast flows the Löcknitz , a right tributary of the Elbe.
