Gangjin County ( kor . : 보성군 , Gangjin-gun ) is located in Jeollanam-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in Gangjin-eup City. The county had an area of ​​500 km² and a population of 35,742 people in 2019. The county was formed in the 15th century from the merger of the Dogang-hyeon and Tamjin-hyeon areas. The name Gangjin literally means "comfortable ferry port".

There is a memorial to the 17th century Dutch explorer Hendrick Hamel , who was the first Western European to witness and write about the era of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. Hamel and his men were stranded on Jeju Island and were trapped in Korea for 13 years.

The furnaces in Gangjin are a well-known area for making traditional Goryeo porcelain. Every year in the city of Gangjin there is a large festival and symposium on celadon porcelain in the Goryeo Celadon Museum with participants from all over the world.
