Boseong County ( kor .: 보성군 , Boseong-gun ) is located in Jeollanam-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in the city of Boseong-eup. The county had an area of 663 km² and a population of 41,908 in 2019. In the Samhan era, Boseong belonged to the Mahan Confederation and later became Bokhol County (伏 忽 郡) under the rule of the Baekje dynasty . The name Boseong was given to him during the reign of the Silla Kingdom .
Boseong is one of the rainiest places in South Korea. It has a temperate climate. The average annual temperature is 12.6 degrees Celsius. The average temperature in January is -0.5 degrees and the average temperature in August is 27.8 degrees. The annual precipitation is 1,450 mm.
Boseong is known as the green tea capital of Korea. The surrounding climate and soil provide good conditions for growing a unique green tea with a distinctive taste and aroma. Almost a third of all arable land is used for tea cultivation, and almost half of all green tea production in Korea comes from the region.
