action

While Elias and Ben take care of Raya at home in Erfurt , Dr. Sherbaz, together with Julia, Mikko, Tom and Wolfgang Berger on a course for "Emergency Rescue in the Alps" in the Kaunertal . They have to provide first aid in the event of an accident on the way there. The rescue pilot Hendrik Gruber has strayed from the road with his car. Vivi is also taking part in the course, she came directly from Hamburg. Your group is led by the mountain guides Maria and Gregor, whose two colleagues recently died on a tour together. The other mountain guides blame him for the misfortune. Gregor is married to Elisabeth, Maria's sister, and they are expecting their first child shortly. They also run a mountain inn. After another argument with his colleagues, Gregor disappears into the mountains and leaves his wife with a message 'Don't wait for me'. When he still didn't report the next day, she asks the rescue chief Franz Rautner for help. But he refuses because nobody wants to help Gregor. Nevertheless, he sends a helicopter off, but in vain.

In the meantime Raya is seriously ill, Ben and Elias take her to the Johannes Thal Clinic. Prof. Patzelt, Dr. Moreau and Elias try desperately to find out what the little one is missing. Ben calls Leyla, who then decides to return to Erfurt immediately.

Elisabeth wants to go looking for Gregor herself, but everyone finds this irresponsible in her condition, but she cannot be changed. That's why Maria, Julia, Vivi and Tom accompany them. Mikko has to stay behind and keep Wolfgang Berger happy so that he doesn't notice anything about the action. On the ascent to the Andreasgrat - where you suspect to find Gregor - you pass a refuge , there you will find Gregor's things. So you are on the right track. Shortly afterwards they actually find him, he fell into a crevasse and injured his knee in the process. He really wanted to go up to Andreasgrat to find the march book. In the meantime, Mikko has to confess to Mr. Berger where the others are at the moment. When trying to rescue Gregor from the crevasse, they fall because a safety hook is torn from the anchorage and Vivi is the only one not trapped in the depths. She cannot help from above and tries to return to the refuge. In the meantime the weather has changed.

Since the antibiotics do not work with Raya, Prof. Patzelt suspects an autoimmune disease , possibly a chronic intestinal inflammation . Dr. Moreau and Dr. Bähr do an intestinal biopsy. You notice severe inflammation of the bowel, but the tests don't show anything. Finally, Ben and Leyla suspect that it is cytomegaly , the virus is transmitted through breast milk . A test at Leyla confirms the assumption. Raya can be helped through targeted therapy. When Leyla informs Wolfgang Berger that Raya is doing better, she learns what's going on in the mountains and decides to return immediately. Dr. Moreau accompanies them because he is afraid for his half-sister.

Gregor suffers a pneumothorax in the crevasse , Julia is able to save him in Extremis. Vivi has reached the refuge in the meantime and tries to contact the rescue center with the radio. This breaks the device. She can repair it again and report it. But the chief of rescue cannot send a helicopter out because of the bad weather. He informs Wolfgang Berger and Mikko about it. Mikko decides to step up and find Vivi. In the meantime, Elisabeth went into labor and Julia tried to help her. She discovers that the baby has not yet turned, but because she broke a finger in the crash, Tom has to step in and turn the baby in the stomach. Vivi has climbed back to the crevasse, but at Julia's request she has to turn back to report on the new situation via radio from the refuge in the valley. She gets lost in the dark. Mikko finds Vivi and accompanies her to the refuge. From there you can also contact Dr. Sherbaz and Dr. Inform Moreau. But the rescue chief cannot and does not want to help.

Leyla asks Hendrik Gruber for help, who still owes her a favor. But he also says that the risk is too high at the moment. Julia gave birth to the baby, but the risk of freezing to death is very high. Vivi and Mikko have made a kind of incubator with material from the shelter , with which they can warm the baby. Now that there are two of them up there, they can get Tom out of the crevice. After a long back and forth, the helicopter can finally take off and fly up to the crevasse. The rescue succeeds and the baby survives.

Since Tom, Mikko and Vivi believe that Gregor's innocence can be proven with the marching book, they climb to the ridge together with Chris Brunner and really find the book. Chris brings Gregor to the hospital with the news that they have found the march book. It says that his colleagues tried to get into the valley themselves.

reception

criticism

“But after more than 200 episodes and great audience numbers, the lead MDR is now showing its generous side and is sending a few of the young assistant doctors from Erfurt to the Kaunertal Glacier region in Tyrol. Instead of the evening program, Julia Berger (Mirka Pigulla), Leyla Sherbaz (Sanam Afrashteh) and Tom Zondek (Tilman Pörzgen) are allowed to attend a course on caring for and rescuing injured people at prime time and in feature length in a winter holiday atmosphere. They also meet an old friend who has just moved from Erfurt to Hamburg: Vivienne Kling (Jane Chirwa).

But there is hardly any time for the joy of reunion. No sooner have the young doctors met their mountain guide Gregor (Nicholas Reinke) than he disappears undetectably between glaciers, ice and snow. His heavily pregnant wife Elisabeth (Gabriela Lindl) has a clue. And because the young doctors are currently completing their mountain rescue course anyway, they want to put what they have just learned into practice immediately. Unfortunately, the inexperienced “Piefkes” themselves end up in great danger during their rescue attempt and fall victim to a crevasse. And that “all because once again a couple of the flatlands underestimated the mountains”, as a visibly annoyed mountain rescuer from Tyrol put it.

Of course, it doesn't stop at this one dramatic situation. In a subplot that leads back to Erfurt, screenwriter Joachim Friedmann has also woven in a life-threatening situation for Leyla's baby. And cross-action, the topic of guilt and atonement is on the program.

The result is an excessively long soap opera with a predictable course of action, but which, in the staging by director Steffen Mahnert, offers gripping panoramic images of the Tyrolean Alps between deceptive beauty and claustrophobic danger. For which the actors and the rest of the crew have taken on a lot in the airy mountain scenery. "
