Venues of the Gauliga Württemberg 1933/34

The Gauliga Württemberg 1933/34 was the first season of the Gauliga Württemberg in football. Champion Union Böckingen .

course

The league was largely identical to the Württemberg district league, which was held until 1932/33 , but now the political boundaries were taken into account more strictly in the division of the league. The two Ulm clubs that had previously competed in the Southern Bavarian regional league switched to the Gauliga Württemberg, while 1. FC Pforzheim and Germania Brötzingen were transferred to the Gauliga Baden .

The first Gaume Championship was secured by the Union Böckingen team led by striker Karl Schadt against the Stuttgart Kickers tied on points . Böckingen qualified for the final round of the German championship , where they were eliminated as the group bottom in the preliminary round.

VfR Heilbronn was disqualified in February 1934 after thirteen out of a total of eighteen games. The background was a scandal about the former Heilbronn international Andreas Franz . He was initially hired by the VfR as a sports teacher for a monthly salary, but a little later only worked as a striker, although he continued to receive the sports teacher’s salary. In the run-up to the second round match against local rivals Union Böckingen, Union player Richard Walter accused him of being a professional player, and was then suspended by the DFB . VfR Heilbronn was temporarily excluded from the DFB. In addition, all results of the Gauliga season were taken out of the evaluation, so that the VfR was the first to be relegated. However, the Heilbronn team had only collected seven points by this point and would have been relegated without disqualification. The second relegated next to VfR Heilbronn was 1. FC 08 Birkenfeld , who was classified in the Baden league from 1934/35.

The promotion to the Gauliga managed the Sportfreunde Esslingen and the SV Göppingen , who prevailed in the promotion round of the district class winners against the SpVgg Trossingen .
