The municipality of Sörg was a municipality in the Carinthian district of Sankt Veit an der Glan , which existed from 1875 to 1973. On January 1, 1973, the community became part of the Liebenfels community .

location

The community was in the Wimitzer Mountains in the southwestern part of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district. Their area was 23.63 km². It comprised the northern part of today's Liebenfels municipality and extended from the Wegscheide settlement and the Schneebauerhöhe (highest point 1338  m above sea level ) in the north to Freundsamer Moos, Gradenegg (lowest point 637  m above sea level on the Gradenegger Bach ) and Sörg in the south.

history

The municipality of Sörg was created in 1875 by dividing the municipality of Glantschach, which had previously consisted of seven cadastral municipalities : The two cadastral municipalities of Glantschach - with the eponymous capital of the municipality - and Rottschaft Feistritz were connected to the neighboring municipality of Pulst . From then on, the other five cadastral communities were run as the community of Sörg.

The municipality of Sörg belonged to the political district of Sankt Veit an der Glan and to the judicial district of Sankt Veit an der Glan .

In the course of the municipal structural reforms in the second half of the 20th century, the municipality was attached to the Liebenfels municipality on January 1, 1973.

The area of ​​the former municipality of Sörg is managed by Statistics Austria as a separate census district ( Sörg, 002 ) of the municipality of Liebenfels, as is usual in Austria for former municipalities that were dissolved after 1960.

In 2001, 679 residents and 33 secondary residences as well as 249 buildings were determined for this area.
