Reidenau is a village in the municipality of Liebenfels in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 47 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It lies entirely in the area of ​​the Sörg cadastral community .

location

The village is located in the southwest of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district, in the Wimitzer Mountains , northeast of Sörg on the path that leads from Sörg via Reidenau and Fachau to the Lorenziberg and is thus part of the Vierbergelauf . A road connection exists only from the south via Waggendorf . The village includes the Steinbauer farms in the north, above the Tatschnigteich , Höhbauer on a hill in the east, and Rubensteiner in the south, near Waggendorf.

The place is mentioned in 1279 as Rudenowe .

A former Romanesque defense structure belongs to the village, which was converted into a branch church in the 15th century and profaned at the beginning of the 19th century.

As part of the tax municipality Sörg, the village belonged to the tax district Gradenegg in the first half of the 19th century . When the local congregations were formed in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, the village first came to the community of Glantschach , and in 1875 to the community of Sörg . Since the merger of the municipalities of Sörg and Liebenfels in 1973, the village has belonged to the municipality of Liebenfels.
