Tschadam is a village in the municipality of Liebenfels in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 22 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It lies in the area of ​​the cadastral communities Liebenfels and Rottschaft Feistritz . In the middle of the 19th century, the border between the communities Glantschach and Pulst ran through the place, which was therefore divided into two villages of the same name.

The village is located in the southwest of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district, west of the municipality capital Liebenfels , on the northern edge of the Glantalboden . The village is divided into a northern and a southern part by Ossiacher Strasse and the railway line; the northern part can be reached from Ossiacher Strasse, the southern part from the east from the L69 state road. The northern part and the westernmost houses of the southern part are in the area of ​​the cadastral community Rottschaft Feistritz, the eastern houses of the southern part are in the area of ​​the cadastral community Liebenfels.

history

The place is mentioned in 1507 as Tschedem (from Slovene scedem = clearing ). The majority of the place belonged in the first half of the 19th century to the tax district Kraig and Nussberg , a small part to the tax district Karlsberg . When the local congregations were founded in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, the houses in the area of ​​the cadastral community Rottschaft Feistritz first came to the community of Glantschach, the house in the cadastral community of Feistritz (today Liebenfels) to the community of Feistritz , which in 1865 came to the community of Pulst was renamed. In 1875 the cadastral community of Rottschaft Feistritz was attached to the community of Pulst; since then the entire place has belonged to one community. In 1958 the place became part of the large community of Liebenfels, created by the merger of the communities Pulst, Liemberg and Hardegg.
