Waggendorf is a village in the municipality of Liebenfels in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 206 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The border between the cadastral communities Rosenbichl and Sörg runs through the village , so until 1972 the place belonged to two different political communities.

location

The village is located in the southwest of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district, about six kilometers west of Sankt Veit an der Glan and one kilometer east of Sörg , in the Wimitzer Mountains . There are also some houses on the slope south towards Pulst, including Hof Kowold , and the houses east along Sörger Landesstraße to Hof Strassnig near the junction to Fachau .

history

The place was named in 1268 as Wackerendorf (= village of Waggo). A branch church St. Cancianus formerly located in the village has long since been abandoned.

The southern part of the village belonged as part of the tax community Rosenbichl in the first half of the 19th century to the tax district Rosenbichl . When the political communities were formed in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, these houses came to the community of Feistritz , which was renamed the community Pulst in 1875 . Since a municipal merger in 1958, the southern part of the village has belonged to the Liebenfels municipality.

The northern part of the village belonged to the tax district of Gradenegg as part of the tax municipality of Sörg in the first half of the 19th century . When the political communities were formed in the mid-19th century, these houses first came to the community of Glantschach , and in 1875 to the community of Sörg . Since the merger of the municipalities of Sörg and Liebenfels in 1973, the northern part of the village has also belonged to the municipality of Liebenfels, and the village, which was previously divided into two localities, was combined into one village.
