Liemberg is a village in the municipality of Liebenfels in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 63 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The village lies entirely within the territory of the Liemberg cadastral community .

location

Liemberg is located north of the Liembergbach , east of Veitsberg , east below the Liemberg castle ruins .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1147 ( Lienberg ); the name is derived from the Middle High German lien (= clematis). The small town around Liemberg parish church , vicarage and Liemberg Castle with Meierhof was the center of the Liemberg tax district in the first half of the 19th century . With the creation of the political communities in the middle of the 19th century, the place came to the community Liemberg , with their dissolution in 1958 to the community Liebenfels.

  • Lienhart (Leonhard) Rutter, born on October 23, 1899 in Liemberg No. 14, killed as a conscientious objector (Jehovah's Witness) on October 11, 1944 in the Dachau concentration camp
