The place is in the south of the district Sankt Veit an der Glan, a good 3 kilometers southwest of the center of the district capital Sankt Veit an der Glan , north of the Glantalboden and about 80 meters above the Glan , on a narrow street that leads from the Ossiacher Straße close by Sankt Veit an der Glan via Mailsberg and Beißendorf to Pulst . The place was mentioned as early as 979, as Malmosich , which is derived from the East Germanic Mahalakimp (= court stone ).

The place Mailberg located in the area of control community Rosenbichl belonged in the first half of the 19th century to the tax district Rosenbichl . When the political communities were created in the mid-19th century, the place became part of the Feistritz community , which was renamed the Pulst community in 1875 . Since a municipality merger in 1958, the village has belonged to the Liebenfels municipality.

Mailsberg allotment garden

A pet cemetery and a natural resting place were created south of the village .

In the 2010s, a single-family house was built opposite the previously existing houses and thus in the area of ​​the Frauenstein community. This house is run by the community of Frauenstein as a separate village.

In the last quarter of the 20th century, an allotment garden was established in the area of ​​the Frauenstein community east of Mailsberg. The huts on the now 300 × 100 meter large facility Mailsberg may not be used as residential or secondary residence.
