Zweikirchen is a village in the municipality of Liebenfels in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district in Carinthia . The village has 160 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The village lies on the territory of the cadastral municipality Hardegg .

location

The village is located in the southwest of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district on Tentschacher Landesstraße L69. The village stretches from the Rohnsdorfer Bach in the south to the Stranghof in the north. The village also has two courtyards ( Kreuth ) east outside the village on the slopes of the Ulrichsberg upstream Peter Bichls: the Lower Greutler and the only (house no. 21) St. Peter am Bichl or from Karnberg from achievable Upper Greutler (House No. 22).

history

The place is mentioned in 1158 as Zwenchirchen , the name refers to the church complex Zweikirchen .

In the first half of the 19th century, the place belonged as part of the Hardegg tax community to the Hardegg tax district . In 1811 a school was founded in the village. When the local congregations were founded in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, Zweikirchen came to the Hardegg congregation and was the main town of this congregation. In 1958 the place came to the municipality of Liebenfels, which was created by the merger of the municipalities of Liemberg , Hardegg and Pulst .
