The Joint Power Plant Inn , abbreviated CCI , is under construction medium pressure - Laufwasserkraftwerk am Inn in the Austrian-Swiss border in the High Court , which will be operational from the 2022nd The water intake is located below Martina in the Engadine , the machine house in Prutz in Tyrol .
history
As early as the 1920s, the first plans for the use of the Inn in the Engadine and Tyrol were drawn up . From 1952 onwards, an Austrian-Swiss commission dealt with the legal issues of joint use. After more than 50 years of negotiations, a state treaty was signed in 2005.
In 2006, the Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Inn GmbH was founded with the participation of TIWAG , Verbund AG and Engadiner Kraftwerke (EKW) . From 2014, Verbund AG sold its originally 50% stake to TIWAG, so that in 2020 it held 86% of the company and EKW 14% .
Construction of the power plant began in summer 2014 at the three construction sites in Ovella, where the weir system ⊙ is located, at Maria Stein for the excavation of the headrace tunnel ⊙ and in Prutz for the construction of the Prutz / Ried power house ⊙ .
Geological difficulties at the construction site of the weir, which lies below an unstable rock wall, led to delays in the project plan. The weir and the power house were completed in autumn 2018. The headrace tunnel was excavated by Maria Stein with a tunnel boring machine (TBM). The TVM North had to excavate 9.8 km of the tunnel and reached its destination at the weir system in April 2019, the TVM South reached its destination at Krafthaus Prutz / Ried in July after excavating 12 km of the tunnel.
The commissioning of the power plant is planned for 2022, the first full year of operation will therefore be 2023. In October 2018, the construction costs for the power plant were estimated at 605 million euros .
technology
The Inn joint power plant is a diversion power plant . The water of the Inn is collected at Ovella about 2.5 km below Martina and fed through a 23.5 km long pressure tunnel on the right side of the valley across the border to the Prutz / Ried powerhouse, where it is processed by two Francis turbines . The underwater flows through a 300 m long canal into the Inn. The installed capacity of the power plant is 89 MW , the planned annual generation should be 414 GWh , which corresponds to a planned average capacity of almost 50 MW.
The weir system forms a dam that extends as far as Martina. The equalization basin is 15 m deep and has a usable volume of 500,000 m³. The water returned to the Inn is used by a doping power plant.
