Genesis is an automobile brand owned by the Korean Hyundai Motor Company . It was together with the upper-middle class - sedan Hyundai Genesis planned and officially own brand on November 4, 2015 introduced. At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2015, Hyundai presented the Vision G Concept Coupé, an outlook on the design of future luxury models from the brand.

Manfred Fitzgerald, former Director of Brand and Design at Lamborghini , will take over the management of the Genesis brand as Senior Vice President . Luc Donckerwolke , former design director of Bentley , Lamborghini and Audi , has been design director of Genesis since the beginning of 2016 and works with the chief designer of Hyundai and Kia, Peter Schreyer . Albert Biermann, former head of BMW's M performance division, takes on the tuning and performance of the Genesis vehicles.

history

In March 2007, Hyundai introduced the “Concept Genesis” as a “progressive interpretation of the modern sports sedan with rear-wheel drive ”. The idea for Genesis came up in 2003. It took three years to design the body and the cost of the entire program was US $ 500 million over a development period of 23 months. 800,000 miles of test drives were carried out. Hyundai presented the Hyundai Genesis in 2008 at the North American International Auto Show . From autumn 2010 the Genesis Coupé was also offered on the German market.
