Genevieve O'Reilly (born 1977 in Dublin , Ireland ) is an Irish - Australian actress .

Life

Genevieve O'Reilly was born in Dublin but grew up in Adelaide , Australia . She is the oldest of four siblings. She moved to Sydney at the age of 20 and attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art , where she graduated in 2000.

A week later she was representing a role in the theater production of The White Devil . She then joined the Sydney Theater Company and became an active theater actress. This was followed by appearances at the Gate Theater in Dublin and at the Old Vic Theater in London .

As a film actress, O'Reilly was initially seen in several Australian film productions and also in some blockbusters such as Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions as Officer Wirtz and in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith as the young Mon Mothma . In 2009 she played in Victoria, the young queen also the role of Lady Flora Hastings .

In 2005 she moved with her husband to London and from then on began to work increasingly in British productions. Because of her resemblance to Princess Diana , she played this role twice, first in 2006 in the BBC series Die Schattenmacht - The State Within , and then in the docudrama Diana - The Last 24 Hours the following year .
