Georgann Johnson (born August 15, 1926 in Decorah , Iowa - † June 4, 2018 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Family and theater appearances

Johnson attended Decorah High School , Luther College, and Northwestern University . Her father, George, owned a small installation company that did jobs in and around Decorah; he was an amateur actor in his spare time .

Johnson starred in multiple roles on Broadway from the 1950s to the early 1960s . She made her Broadway debut in April 1953 in the role of Christine Marlowe in the comedy Room Service directed by Bernard Hart and Don Hershey. From October 1954 to January 1955 she was with Mike Wallace in the play Reclining Figure by Martin Gabel and Henry M. Margolis as Cass Egerton. From October 1958 to December 1958 she took on the role of Vicky Remsen in the comedy Drink to Me Only by Abram S. Ginnes and Ira Wallach . In the comedy Critic's Choice by Ira Levin she was seen from December 1960 to May 1961 in the role of Angela Ballantine; This production was directed by Otto Preminger . It was her last Broadway work. In 1953 she had met her future husband Stanley Prager during her stage appearances on Broadway , when both appeared briefly as a cast in the resumption of the play Room Service .
