Georgia Bright Engel (born July 28, 1948 in Washington, DC - † April 12, 2019 in Princeton , New Jersey ) was an American actress .
Life
Georgia Engel studied at the University of Hawaii in Manoa . Her sister Robin Ruth Engel was Miss Hawaii in 1967. Shortly after her film debut, Georgia Engel was hired for the television series Mary Tyler Moore . The role of Georgette Franklin quickly made the actress known to American audiences as the "blond dumbass". This C figure shaped her very much and she was seen in similar roles in several other series after the end of Mary Tyler Moore .
In the 21st century, the actress was increasingly seen on the stage. In 2006 she played on Broadway in the musical The Drowsy Chaperone . She played the role of Mrs. Tottendale for a year on Broadway and was also in productions in Toronto and San Francisco . She was also seen in 2 episodes of the hit series Two and a Half Men . From 2012 she played sporadically in episodes of the sitcom Hot in Cleveland again at the side of her former Mary Tyler Moore colleague Betty White .
Awards
Georgia Engel has received five Emmy nominations, once for her role in Mary Tyler Moore and four times for her performance in Everybody Loves Raymond .
