Stefan Bacher (born July 4, 1989 in Vienna ) is an Austrian ice hockey defender who has played for the EC VSV in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2005 .

Career

Bacher comes from the offspring of the EC VSV and made it up to the first team from there. In 2007 and 2008 he became Austrian U20 champions with the VSV youngsters. At the age of 17 he made his first Bundesliga appearances before becoming a regular player in the 2008/09 season. Since then, he has been a member of the professional team without interruption. During the 2011/12 season, in which the EC VSV missed the play-offs, Bacher was loaned to ATSE Graz along with some other players from the club .

In 2011, Bacher was also a member of the ball hockey team at VAS Villach .

International

Stefan Bacher took part in three U20 and two U18 world championships in Division I for Austria. He and his team achieved promotion to the top division at the U20 World Cup in 2009 .

He made his debut in the men's national team on April 8, 2009 when he lost 3-1 to Russia . At the 2014 World Cup, he was in Division I in the Austrian squad and was promoted to the top division with his team. After the Alpine nationals could not hold the class without him in 2015, he played again in Division I in 2016 .
