Gerhard Bereswill

Gerhard Bereswill (* 1957 ) is a German police officer and since September 21, 2014 Police President of the City of Frankfurt am Main .

Life

Bereswill joined the Federal Border Police in Fulda in 1974 , where he was deployed as a group leader after completing his training . In 1978 he moved to the Hessian police , where he after training for middle grade only as a strip officer and from 1984 after joining the criminal investigation when Kriminaldauerdienst in Darmstadt worked. During this time he rose to the higher service , where he was most recently deputy head of the narcotics commissioner at the Darmstadt Police Headquarters . In 1995 he graduated from the Police Leadership Academy in Münster-Hiltrup and moved to the higher service . After completing his studies, he was appointed head of the mobile task force in Frankfurt. The change to the State Criminal Police Office (HLKA) followed. Later he took over the management of the department staff in the police headquarters in West Hesse . From November 2005 he was a consultant in the presidential office of the state police headquarters . In October 2010, he became Vice President of the Police, succeeding Sabine Thurau , who took over the management of the HLKA.

On October 20, 2014 he was appointed Police President in Frankfurt am Main by the Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth . He succeeds Achim Thiel , who retired at the end of September 2014 for health reasons at his own request.

Bereswill is married and has two children.
