Gerhard Oberlin

Gerhard Oberlin (born December 4, 1950 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German literary and cultural scientist, science journalist, textbook author, poet, storyteller and teacher.

Life

After studying English, German and sports science, Gerhard Oberlin first worked as a grammar school teacher in Reutlingen before he switched to the international school service as head of German and advanced training coordinator. After a few years in Tokyo and Yokohama , further studies in pedagogy, psychology, anthropology and cultural studies as well as the doctorate to Dr. phil. with Gert Sautermeister in Bremen. Afterwards various teaching activities at universities and Goethe Institutes in Asia ( Tokyo , Beijing , Hong Kong ) as well as guest lectureships at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem , the Malayalam University in Tirur, India and at the PTM Government College in Perinthalmanna / Kerala.

In addition to short stories, poetry and scientific essays , he published literary psychological studies a. a. on works by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Friedrich Schiller , Heinrich von Kleist , Adelbert von Chamisso , Jacob Grimm , Wilhelm Grimm , Rainer Maria Rilke , Franz Kafka , Georg Büchner and Friedrich Hölderlin . There were also numerous cultural studies and psychoanalytic investigations into phenomena of contemporary history and the present. He published two books by the Greek author and astrophysicist Argyris Sfountouris on the cultural and contemporary history of Greece, which illustrate and complement the film A Song for Argyris by Stefan Haupt .

The author runs an editorial office and offers professional editing services for authors. He teaches as a lecturer at the Adult Education Center in Tübingen.

In 1992, under the patronage of Karl Krolow, he founded the “ Society for contemporary poetry e. V. “, with today's seat in Leipzig.

For his lyrical work, he received the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation Prize in 1993 , which included a work grant at Solitude Castle .

Gerhard Oberlin founded and directed Montessori schools in Japan, Laos and Zurich. In 2003 he became headmaster of the Rhein-Main International Montessori School (RIMS) in Friedrichsdorf , before moving to the Zurich International School in Zurich and finally to the German School in Athens .
