Gerhardsen Gerner

Gerhardsen Gerner is a gallery for contemporary art at Linienstraße 85 in Berlin-Mitte . The gallery with rooms in Berlin and Oslo is run by the gallery owners Atle Gerhardsen (* 1964 in Oslo) and Nicolai Gerner-Mathisen (* 1979 in Oslo).

In 1995 the gallery was founded by Atle Gerhardsen under the name c / o in Oslo. Atle Gerhardsen is showing works by artists such as Tony Oursler , Matthew Ritchie and Carroll Dunham for the first time in Oslo . In 2000, the company moved to Berlin, where Atle Gerhardsen opened the rooms at the then gallery hot spot in the S-Bahn arches near the S-Bahn station Jannowitzbrücke under the name c / o - Atle Gerhardsen in 2001 . After the S-Bahn arches were used as an additional exhibition space for the 2nd Berlin Biennale in 2001, some of the most renowned art galleries will move into the arches. At that time the galleries carlier | gebauer, Max Hetzler , Mehdi Chouakri or the non profit space Büro Friedrich also had their premises there.

At the beginning of 2009 the gallery was renamed Gerhardsen Gerner in order to have Atle Gerhardsen's long-term business partner Nicolai Gerner-Mathisen in his name. On May 15, 2012 Atle Gerhardsen and Nicolai Gerner-Mathisen open their second gallery in the newly built Tjuvholmen district of Oslo. In Oslo, Gerhardsen Gerner showed exhibitions with artists such as Tal R , Julian Opie , Georg Herold , Ólafur Elíasson and in March 2014 the group exhibition DO NOT DISTURB with the Scandinavian artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset .

After 15 years at Jannowitzbrücke, the Berlin gallery will move to Linienstraße 85 in Berlin-Mitte in February 2016 .
