Gesine Krüger (born February 25, 1959 in Helmstedt ) is a German Bundeswehr doctor with the rank of general staff doctor and commander of the Bundeswehr Medical Academy .

Life

After graduating from high school in Meckenheim in 1977 , Gesine Krüger completed an apprenticeship as a medical assistant at the Petrus Hospital in nearby Bonn and studied human medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University there from 1980 to 1986 .

In 1987 she joined the German Armed Forces as a medical officer and troop physician at Jagdbombergeschwader 31 “Boelcke” in Kerpen and in 1989 completed further training as an assistant doctor in the field of surgery in the German Armed Forces Hospital in Hamm and in the internal medicine department in the German Armed Forces Central Hospital in Koblenz . In 1992, she became a specialist in general medicine appointed and went as a squadron chief of the Air Force sanitary unit in Fighter Bomber Wing 35 to Sobernheim .

From 1994 to 1995, Krüger was the head of the on-site medical center at the Heide site and at the same time completed training as a rescue doctor; then she took over the air force first aid squadron in the III. Air Force Training Regiment 1 , also in Heide. She then worked as a consultant for training matters for non-medical medical personnel and training regulations in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn and then as a consultant in the area of ​​press and public relations, where she was involved, among other things, with the processing of submissions to the Armed Forces Commissioner ; In 1998 she also became an aviation doctor . From 2001 to 2005 she worked as a division doctor in the 3rd Air Force Division in Berlin-Gatow .

During her time as a division doctor, she was deployed in 2002 and 2003 as a medical advisor and in the SFOR contingent in the Butmir field camp in Sarajevo . In 2005, Krüger took over the duties of Head of Department G3 in the Medical Command II in Diez , Rhineland-Palatinate , followed in 2007 by another assignment abroad as commander of the Medical Task Force in the EUFOR contingent, again in Sarajevo. In 2008 she returned to the Rhineland . Until 2010 she was the head of the department for specialist service matters at the General Doctor of the Air Force in Siegburg , then until 2013 Chief Medical Officer of the Air Force Command in Cologne-Wahn . From 2011 to 2012 she completed the 119th Senior Course at the NATO Defense College in Rome and from 2013 to 2014 she was general physician at the armed forces base in Bonn.

On July 1, 2014, Krüger moved to the regional medical service support command in Diez and was appointed general doctor in 2015 .

On May 12, 2016, she took over command of the Bundeswehr Medical Academy in Munich from General Staff Doctor Erika Franke . In this post she was also promoted to General Staff Doctor. After Erika Franke, she is only the second woman to have achieved this rank in the Bundeswehr.
