Get Rich or Die Tryin ' is an American feature film from 2005 that was released in 2006 in Germany. Directed by Jim Sheridan , the screenplay was written by Terence Winter . The rapper 50 Cent plays the main role, some of which is biographically based on his previous life. The film bears the same title as 50 Cent's debut album .

50 Cent aka Marcus wants to become a rapper and is the son of a dealer. He doesn't know his father. When his mother is killed, he moves in with his grandparents, who, like his mother, cannot pamper him with branded clothing and other luxury items. He then becomes a dealer himself and rises up the hierarchy of a local gang. After spending time in prison, he decides to give up the drug business for his friend Charlene's sake. He is supported by his grandparents, some old companions and his friend Bama, whom he met in prison. However, when he does not get a record deal, he decides to commit a robbery and is gunned down on behalf of his former gang leader Majestic after the attack. After his recovery, Marcus, who calls himself a rapper Young Caesar, records an album that sells well. Before a concert that is supposed to take place in a club under his old gang's control, Marcus learns that Majestic has raped and murdered his mother. A scuffle ensues between the two of them. When Marcus finally turns away to go on stage, Majestic tries to kill him with a knife and is shot by Bama. Marcus goes on stage and raps the song Hustler's Ambition.

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating particularly valuable.
