Giuseppe Paupini
Giuseppe Cardinal Paupini (born February 25, 1907 in Mondavio , Province of Pesaro and Urbino , Italy , † July 18, 1992 in Rome ) was a Vatican diplomat and later Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Giuseppe Paupini studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Fano and Rome . He received on 19 March 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After further studies, he worked from 1932 as a parish clergyman and lecturer in the diocese of Fano . From 1939 to 1947 and 1951 to 1956 he was a member of the staff of the Vatican State Secretariat , from 1947 to 1951 he worked for the Apostolic Nunciatures in Honduras , Nicaragua and Cuba .
In 1956 Pope Pius XII appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Sebastopolis in Abasgia and Internuncio in Iran . The episcopal ordination received Giuseppe Paupini on 26 February of the same year by the prefect of the Congregation for the people consecrated life , Valerio Cardinal Valeri . From 1957 to 1959 he headed the Apostolic Nunciature in Guatemala and El Salvador , and in 1959 he became Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia . He attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . Pope Paul VI took him on April 28, 1969 as a cardinal deacon with the title diaconia Ognissanti in Via Appia Nuova in the college of cardinals and appointed him on March 21, 1973 cardinal large penitentiary (head of the apostolic penitentiary ). Cardinal Paupini attended the conclave in August 1978 and October 1978 . On June 30, 1979 he was elevated to cardinal priest while retaining his title diaconia . On April 8, 1984, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation, so that Paupini resigned from active service in the Roman Curia at the age of 77 .
Giuseppe Paupini died on July 18, 1992 at the age of 85 in Rome and was buried in Mondavio.
